A plaintiff is someone who is asking the court for help to fix some wrong they have suffered. You are the plaintiff in the consent decree if you have been discriminated against and are seeking concessions or damages from your employer. You will work with your attorney and the attorneys representing other plaintiffs to decide upon a legal strategy to bring about changes in your workplace or to obtain compensation for wrongs you have suffered. Depending on your case, you may represent only your own interests, those of a small group of women from your workplace, or a much larger “class” of women you have never met who in one way or another have experienced difficulties similar to those you have experienced yourself.
