PROMOTING YOUR $TART $MART WORKSHOP ON CAMPUSES

When promoting $tart $mart workshops is done the right way, students will fi ll every available seat.

Campuses know how best to reach their students, but in the past, the following tactics have worked
well to market $tart $mart:

  • Send personalized e-mails to students.
  • Create and disseminate a Facebook event for the workshop.
  • Post fl yers in strategic areas around campus.
  • Send personal invitations to students from professors or other organizations on campus.
  • Organize announcements at faculty and student meetings.
  • Engage students to recruit other students.
  • Ask faculty to count workshop attendance as the equivalent of going to class for that week.
  • Feature the workshop on the campus television channel.

KEY POINTS:

  • Work collaboratively on campus to develop a marketing plan and start promoting the workshop early in the semester.
  • Review all materials to make sure that the objectives of the $tart $mart workshop are accurate in the promotional materials.
  • Be aware of academic calendars so that school breaks and exams don’t affect attendance at the workshop.
  • Emphasize that this workshop helps students get paid what they deserve in their jobs after graduation.
  • Do not emphasize eliminating the wage gap in the marketing. Most students do not know about the wage gap until they attend this workshop.
